Southern Charm: Why I Miss Japan: Reason One Billion

Two months after graduating from college in 2008, I moved to a tiny town in rural Japan to teach English. After a two-year whirlwind of falling in love with Japan and country-hopping throughout Asia, I packed up my suitcases full of sweet memories and headed back to the US.

Reluctant to move back to my hometown of Pittsburgh, I took two jobs in Nashville, Tennessee. I spend my days working with refugees as an Americorps volunteer, and at night I seat the hip and famous at one of Nashville's tastiest restaurants.

Follow along as I embrace life in the south while reminiscing about the land of the rising sun that I oh so dearly miss.
